The ILCA Annual Conference provides a rich learning
environment for lactation professionals and others who
assist mothers and babies with breastfeeding. It offers
current and aspiring lactation consultants information on
cutting-edge lactation practices and research to equip you
in giving optimal breastfeeding care and support to mothers
and babies.
Our three keynote speakers at our 2008 conference in
Las Vegas are:
• Dr Mary Renfrew, author and Professor of Mother and Infant
Health, Department of Health Sciences, University of York
UK;
• Dr Mark Cregan, Faculty Director of International
Programmes in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular
Biology from the University of Western Australia who, with
his doctoral students, is working towards better
understanding the cellular components of breastmilk during
lactation; and
• Dr Julie Smith, an Australian economist and lay
breastfeeding counsellor, who is currently researching a
book on the economics of mothers’ milk.
