Susan Burger attended UNICEF's Standing Committee on Nutrition (SCN) meeting from March 22-25, 2004 on behalf of ILCA.. A one-page document was developed for the SCN meetings with input from other ILCA Liaisons and board members describing the International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA). This handout was distributed along with pertinent ILCA position papers on Infant Feeding in Emergencies and HIV and Infant Feeding. At the SCN meeting, Ms. Burger was able to discuss the important contribution of clinical lactation management as an integral and key part of support for breastfeeding with various nutrition professionals. In addition, she posted information about the July 2004 ILCA conference on a listserve for a group of U.S.-based private voluntary organizations (PVOs), many of which implement nutrition and/or HIV/AIDS programs.
