 World Breastfeeding Week, which is globally coordinated by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA), will be celebrated worldwide August 1-7, 2013 or October 1-7, 2013. Breastfeeding Support: Close to Mothers is the theme for World Breastfeeding Week 2013, which highlights the importance of providing support to breastfeeding families. This year’s theme will feature all aspects of support including utilization of a breastfeeding peer counselor, a mother-to-mother support group, or an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant® (IBCLC®). Support can also be expressed in many forms by family and friends, employers, healthcare providers, childcare providers, and the community at large. ILCA is developing many new colorful reproducibles including flyers for healthcare providers, childcare providers, and employers and brand new promotional to emphasize supporting breastfeeding families. Check back for further updates about ILCA’s Action Kit and promotional products. More information, including ordering information, is estimated to be available at the end of May.
