Education

 What are CERPs?
CERPs are Continuing Education Recognition Points, instructional units defined by the IBLCE for professional education that is specific and appropriate for IBCLC's. CERPs are earned by IBCLC's who complete an educational program; one (1) CERP being equivalent to one (1) hour educational time. L-CERPs are for Lactation topics, R-CERPs are for Related topics. Clinical work and classes for mothers are not professional education, and are not eligible for CERPs. CERPs must be approved by IBLCE, not simply by program providers themselves.

How to Obtain CERPs:

  • Attending conferences that have applied to IBLCE for CERPs.
  • Complete recognized courses that award CERPs.
  • Complete recognized Independent Study Modules (ISM).
