Who can become a member of CLCA/ACCL?

Individuals, associations can become members of CLCA/CCL. You do not need to be a Lactation Consultant. CLCA/ACCL welcomes those that support our goal of a culture in Canada where breastfeeding is acknowledged, promoted, supported and protected. To find out more about membership click here.

How can I become a member?

Download the CLCA/ACCL membership form, complete it and mail to the Membership Secretary.

How can I help CLCA/ACCL?

CLCA/ACCL is a volunteer organization and gets its strength and vitality from its volunteers. Volunteers can help with:

• French translation of written material: both for print and the web site.
• Help the WHO committee: write article, review WHO material
• Become a reporter for the Newsletter: collect information and articles of interest for the newsletter; review a research article or book.
• Specific project teams: assist with a specific time limited project

How do I become a Lactation Consultant?

The International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) certifies lactation Consultants. The certifying exam is offered once a year in multiple country / city sites. Before you can write the certifying exam, you must meet specific criteria. For a complete overview of the criteria and process go to IBLCE.

What are CERPs?

CERPs are Continuing Education Recognition Points. CERPs are required for certification to become an IBCLC and for re-certification. You can obtain CERPs by:

• Attending conferences that have applied to IBLCE for CERP's.
• Complete recognized courses that award CERP's.
• Complete recognized Independent Study Modules (ISM).

Letters from the Board

We invite our membership to download and send copies of the letters from the BOD posted on this website. Copies may be forwarded to related individuals, groups and organizations as long as they remain WHO Code Compliant.
