Day
IBCLC: Best in Breastfeeding Care
Whereas,
(state/region) and (city/county) value the health and
breastfeeding needs of all our infants; and
Whereas, the risks of formula-feeding infants is known to be
linked to higher incidences of illnesses, loss of paid-time at
work; and
Whereas, a contributing factor for not breastfeeding is the
lack of proper education, emotional support, and adequate
assistance for typical breastfeeding struggles; and
Whereas, International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs)
play an instrumental role in providing the education and
support new families need to reach their breastfeeding goals;
and
Whereas, it is the goal of the International Lactation
Consultant Association (ILCA) and (city/state or country) to
involve families, health care professionals, hospitals,
clinics, and other health care organizations in all aspects of
this celebration and establish an atmosphere that supports the
role of the IBCLC in terms of awareness, education, and
on-going initiatives to support breastfeeding; and
Whereas, the "Best in Breastfeeding Care" theme promotes the
role of the lactation consultant in conducting prenatal
teaching, assisting with actual breastfeeding, and being an
active member of the health care team; and
Whereas, there are many activities planned for IBCLC Day in
(city/region and state/country);
Now, therefore, the _____(mayor, city council or
commissioners) of (city/region and state/country) does/do
hereby proclaim March 2, 2005 as IBCLC Day in (city/region and
state/country), and urges/urge all citizens to join in the
day's activities and to work all year long to protect our
community by encouraging new mothers to seek the assistance of
an IBCLC to address their breastfeeding concerns.
