ILCA RESPONDS TO LACTATION CONSULTANT FEE SURVEY REQUEST

The International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA) provided support to an announcement by the U.S. Department of Justice that it will not contest an online fee survey among independent International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) within the United States.

The Department of Justice announcement was in response to a proposal by private practice lactation consultant, Diana West. Diana West, a Maryland IBCLC and a Registered Lactation Consultant, asked to conduct a nationwide online survey of International Board Certified Lactation Consultants. The survey is designed to determine the range of prices customarily charged by self-employed IBCLCs. The information collected will allow independent practitioners to set reasonable fees for their area.

ILCA has prepared a press release about the Justice Department's decision on the fee survey. Members are encouraged to submit the document to their local media outlets. The Press Release prepared by ILCA, as well as the Announcement from the U.S. Department of Justice itself, are available in the Pressroom.
