IBLCE Proposes Second Credential
The International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE),
the organization that administers the exam to award the
IBCLC credential, has announced their interest in developing
a second credential that would target peer support staff.
Learn more about this credential by visiting the IBLCE
website at www.iblce.org
[scroll through the "Latest News" section].
The Results of the Second Credential Survey are Tallied!
More ILCA members voted in the online survey on the second
credential than have voted in any online ballot elections.
ILCA thanks all members who took the time to share their
thoughts about the second credential proposed by the
International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE).
The survey deadline was November 15, 2006, and a
final summary is now available. As promised, ILCA has
sent this summary to the IBLCE Board Chair (Roberta Hewat)
and Executive Director (Casey Goldberg) with instructions
that it be forwarded to all members of the IBLCE Board. The
summary is being sent with this
important letter
from the ILCA Board. Again, many thanks to all ILCA members
who completed the survey. ILCA is YOU!

"Do We Need a Second Credential?"
The comments collected at the Issues Forum were compiled
and sent by ILCA to IBLCE shortly after the Conference.
However, ILCA postponed their publication on our website
until we closed (on Nov 15, 2006) our survey of ILCA members
about the topic of a second credential.
