What's New at ILCA |
November 26, 2007Scope of Practice Update
To ILCA members:
As was announced at the ILCA Annual General Meeting in
August, the ILCA
Scope of Practice Task Force did an excellent job in
drafting a Model Scope
of Practice. The ILCA Board of Directors approved the text
of this draft
which was then sent to IBLCE for review by the IBLCE Scope
of Practice Task
Force. These 2 task forces are now working together to agree
on a final
document which can be approved by both organizations.
We know many of our members are eagerly awaiting release of
this Scope of
Practice. The ILCA Board of Directors is pleased at the
substantial progress
that has been made to craft a Scope of Practice that will
have global
utility. This is a matter of great importance to our
profession. We
appreciate the patience of our members, and IBCLCs
worldwide, as ILCA and
IBLCE continue to productively collaborate on this document.
When a final Scope of Practice is approved, we will send it
to all ILCA
members, and post it on the ILCA website.
Sincerely,
Becky Mannel
President
ILCA Board of Directors
